Beer-Type Logos: Brewery-style logo designs created from font names

1 year. 52 logos. Holy crap.

Beer-Type Logos is a personal graphic design project where I have challenged myself to create 52 logos—1 logo per week for the entire year of 2015—that use a different font to create a unique brewery or beer logo. The idea for beertypelogos.com was born from the many taphandle graphics I have done over the past year for Granite Falls Brewing Company in Granite Falls, North Carolina. I have been completing small, one-off type treatments for GFB that have inspired me to create my own line of brewery-style logos and now have an active blog where I showcase these logos and the beer and fonts that inspired them.

Drafting design inspiration from two things I love

I have several goals and objectives in this endeavor, and you can read more about this project here. But for the most part, I’m doing it for the love of beer and type. I’m fascinated with craft beer and tasting the many offerings of North Carolina and beyond. And likewise I’m totally consumed with logo design and the fonts used to create them.

Craft Beer Branding & Logo Design

Just a sneak peek at some of the branding designed for Granite Falls Brewing Company. They are a truly innovative craft brewer with great ideas and cool spins on classic beer offerings.

Beer Branding for Hickory, NC area Craft Brewer

Above are some recent designs for taphandle graphics. All the GFB taphandles carry the same molded shape—granite handle, topped with the traditional Granite Falls Brewing logo. However each handle has an area for individual beer branding.

Hickory NC Graphic Designer Wins Awards for Logos and Web Sites

HICKORY, NC Matt Everley, of Hickory, NC-based graphic design studio m.e.designlab, was recently selected as a winner for six 2012 American Graphic Design Awards by a nationwide panel of judges. The awards recognize excellence in communication and graphic design. Read more

Alba Scientific Logo Design

Alba Scientific Inc. is a laboratory filtration equipment and services entity, whose core competence is focused in pure and ultrapure water systems, along with microfiltration products. Their focus is local customer service in the Raleigh, Durham, and RTP area of North Carolina, with high quality, lower priced products performed by experienced technicians.

The company owner’s Scottish heritage is embraced in this logo design, by wrapping the Scottish saltire flag around the droplet of water. Not only does the logo say quality, but it also evokes a bit of “Scottish Thrift.”

A tagline was developed in tandem with the logo design and development which speaks directly to the products and services Alba Scientific offers.

Annual Report Design – NC Minority Support Center

Art direction and graphic design for the North Carolina Minority Support Center’s biennial report. The Support Center is a statewide advocate that partners with Community Development Credit Unions (CDCUs), providing technical assistance, grants and loans to help them build generational wealth and create opportunities for individuals, families and communities. The design and content of this report celebrates their 20th anniversary in 2009.
